Strive to become a warmer HR professional and a kinder and more insightful business partner.

During my GHRM MBA studies, I was a co-curator of a large TEDxNSYSU event, studied abroad in Switzerland, completed an internship at E.SUN Financial Holding, and was a research assistant to a professor – life was very busy but also very fulfilling! Previously, I have worked in various units of BENQ Human Resources Center, and now I am a Human Resources Business Partner at Shopee.

I think interviews should be seen as a process to reduce information asymmetry. In addition to examining the candidate’s professional ability, it also allows the candidate to see whether they feel comfortable during the interview process and whether they are a good fit for the company’s “chemistry.” Interviews can also determine the candidate’s functional abilities and allow the company to arrange appropriate on-the-job training and development after they are hired. I would suggest that students who are enthusiastic and interested in the HR field take advantage of the College’s resources to participate in activities and related internships after entering the program – they will be very helpful for your future career!

Each attempt and choice is a new possibility, so try your best to be wonderful, because opportunities are reserved for those who try hard.

Because I studied in an international program, I tried my best to work with different students in each course group. I gained many different perspectives from the discussions and presentations, especially when I worked with students from different countries. I also had many different opportunities for cultural exchange. In addition, I was lucky enough to participate in a dual degree program with Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in the UK. I have a busy schedule of classes and a heavy workload of assignments, but when I got the grades I wanted, the sense of accomplishment that came with it made all the hard work worthwhile.

My time in the GHRM MBA program was full of new experiences and challenges for me, including the busy life of being a first-year master’s student, choosing an advisor who specialized in HARDCORE, a double degree at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), a company internship, and many other experiences. The learning experience and assistance provided by the program gave me a different perspective and angle for my future career.

Use program resources and take advantage of an all-English environment

In the GHRM MBA program, I became used to communicating with students and professors from different countries to discuss issues inside and outside the classroom. The cross-cultural collaboration skills and the human resource knowledge I have acquired have enabled me to interact and cooperate with various teams in a more efficient manner as we try to meet each other’s work expectations.

What I found most helpful about the GHRM MBA was the rich diversity of resources and the international environment taught entirely in English. This experience has been very helpful to me in my career after graduation. The ability to communicate effectively and use human resources knowledge in a fully English-speaking, cross-cultural team is an essential career requirement. Especially when working closely with overseas colleagues and manufacturers, English language skills are undoubtedly a necessity in the workplace, and this program has given me exactly the environment I needed.

Expand your horizons through international connections

When I was studying for my GHRM MBA, I already had plans to do an exchange program in the US. I was lucky enough to attend an exchange program at Temple University in the US and take three management courses at the Fox School of Business during my stay.

One of the courses I’d most recommended the most is Power, Influence & Negotiations in Organizations. In the first class, the professor divides the students into groups. In the first period, the professor uses a case study or experience talk to share the course content. In the second or third period, the students are asked to defend their positions and debate each other in a simulated situation based on the case study, as well as to record the negotiation process and results. In the last session, each group shares and reports on the negotiation process and the final result.

I am grateful to the program for giving me such a great resource, because I think it is a teaching method that is rarely used in Taiwanese education. The international connection of the program has given me a lot of insights during my learning process.
