Our Research Strategy

Our research focuses on a wide range of topics within HRM, at both the macro (i.e., organizational) and the micro (i.e., individual) levels. We integrate both macro- and micro-level of HRM topics to fully clarify how human resources can create values for the organizations. Collectively, we have interests in a vast range of subjects, including the organizational theory, strategic and operational side of HRM, recruitment and selection, performance management, human resource development/training, as well as organizational behavior and industrial and organizational psychology (e.g., moods and emotions, workplace attitudes, individual and group behavior, stress and well-being).

Specializations of Faculty

Our faculty members cover a variety of different areas, including: strategic human resource management, work attitudes and behaviors, organizational behavior, and organizational development. Currently, there are 10 full-time faculty members in the institute with diverse research interests, including: moods at work, team management, employee attitudes and motivation, career development, human resource management and development, work psychology, and emotional labor.

Research Highlights

The Institute currently has 10 full-time professors, including many who have received the Ministry of Science and Technology's Ta-You Wu Memorial Award or Outstanding Research Award. Our faculty and students have also received numerous national awards for their papers. In addition, the Institute's strategic human capital research team, composed of Professors Shyh-Jer Chen, Nai-Wen Chi, and Pao-Lian Chen, has been awarded NT$3.6 million per year for two years under the Ministry of Education's “Benchmark Program in Humanities and Social Sciences for Colleges and Universities”.

Faculty Highlights

Distinguished Professor Nai-Wen Chi received the Ta-You Wu Memorial Award from the National Science and Technology Counci in 2012 as well as MOST's Outstanding Research Award in 2015. His research areas include mood at work, team management, and attitudes and behaviors.

Distinguished Professor Shyh-Jer Chen received an Outstanding Research Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2010. His research areas include resource management, strategic human resource management, and business.

Distinguished Professor Pao-Lien Chen received the Ministry of Science and Technology's Outstanding Research Award in 2018. Her research areas include human capital, firm growth, entrepreneurship, international business, strategic management.
